Music and Personal nd Commentary written by Ken Hacker
Feb. 6, 2010: Another new year and this brings promise and hope for my music if I just stop waiting for some giant gate to open and just keep busy recording. The disappointments will happen just as they do in every area of one's life, but I am resolved to keep writing, copyrighting, recording, and then releasing songs via this site. It should be fun and that cannot possibly be bad. I am glad to meet some other musicians who are also writing their own songs.
Nov. 28, 2009: Looking for a guitarist, pianist, violinist, bassist, and drummer to DONATE time and recording effort to help with my song for a Vietnam vet that died last year. The song will be recorded and given first to his family members as they asked to have it and wish to use it on a CD with his photographs. Friends of mine will then try to get it air time here in New Mexico. I will also post it with photos to some military Websites. Anyone serious about this who lives in New Mexico and can record in Las Cruces, Alburquerque or Santa Fe, should contact me.
Nov. 24, 2009: A song that I wrote for a Vietnam vet will be recorded by itself before I get the first CD done. This is because of a commitment I made to his family at his funeral.
July 10, 2009: Will get more advice on the recording unit as I am still trying to figure out how to get 8 tracks into a master recording and then a song copy on a CD.
June 16, 2009: The gig fell through due to a lack of time to practice and get people organized including myself. This means more effort next time.
June 9, 2009: I have been invited to play two of my songs at a military function this month. I have very short notice and wonder if this is going to work. I want to do it and am working against talking myself out of it...
May 28, 2009: Things slowed down with the long driving between Las Cruces, NM and Santa Fe for practicing. Will have to work more on the writing, copyrighting, and computer program to help writing in the next few weeks and months. Hopefully, this helps rather than hurts. Wish I had my old friend Roy Williams in town to practice with on some old and new songs.
May 24, 2009: Some of my old, really old songs, are still waiting around for recording. They are not as good, hopefully, as what I write now, so I needed a plan for them. Some of them will be updated, but the lesser ones are going onto one CD that I will title Wrapping Up the Past. These are my oldies only.
May 23, 2009: Things slowed down with much academic commitment and family situations to work out. Still, early June will bring more practice and more copyrighting. Song samples will first begin with small versions of copy (other people's music) songs and some original instrumentals. The vale of having all of the right equipment has become painfully obvious, right down to the right cords, guitar straps, and microphones. This is a journey, one full of fun and hope.
MAY 7, 2009: As the technology gets mastered, this site will be hub for
the distribution of the music, hopefully including downloadable single
songs as well as ordering of the CDs.
May 6, 2009: Work continues this month on writing the sons for the first CD. Copyrightin follows. All songs will be originals. May be able to jam some with more musicians in Santa Fe this month or in June for a more full sound for the recordings. Computer software bought to interface with the Tascam recording unit. I wish I could find my old friend Roy Williams from Sacramento, California and invite him to NM work on some songs. I think he moved out of CA to Minnesota and I lost contact with him. I estimate the rest of this year to get ready for the big recording days in Taos. Then 2010 is it; what a ride it will be!
When I am not playing music as a hobby, I might be found playing racquetball.
There are quite a few nitwits I have met that do not yet understand the nature of state defense forces or State Guards in the states that have them. Anyone doing even a little bit of research will realize that State Guards are volunteer military unis that augment their state National Guard units and help with state homeland security. This is not rocket science! For more information about the State Guards, to to the following link:
